Addressing, hand or machine
inserting and bulk mail processing.
Accurate, thorough, and effective
bulk mail processing allows you to take advantage of a wide variety of
United States Postal Service discounts. The procedures and regulations
regarding the processing of bulk mail are complex, interrelated, and
ever changing. Carlton's focus on quality provides you
with the full range of processing services and ensures that you can
take advantage of all available USPS discounts.
USPS CODING
Maximum Postal Service
discounts are only available for those mailings that have certain USPS
identifiers within each record. These identifiers include the 5-digit
Zip Code, 9-digit Zip+4, and the Carrier Route Code, as well as
Delivery Point Barcode and Line of Travel. To qualify for these
discounts, these Codes must have been applied by a system that has
received CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) cerfitication. Carlton's
system is CASS certified and has Accuracy Ratings that are consistently
among the highest in the nation.
POSTAL PRESORT
To take advantage of the postage
discounts, the USPS Codes are used to sort the mail prior to it being
delivered to the Post Office. The mail is sorted in accordance with
USPS procedures that require as little human intervention as possible
to get the mail to its destination. Sorting to the Carrier Route level
with Line of Travel allows for the greatest postage discount. Sorting
to Zip Codes or SCF (the first three digits of a Zip code) can qualify
for one of the other discounted levels.
LABEL PRODUCTION
Labels are available in either
Cheshire (machine affixed) or pressure sensitive (hand affixed). Our
quality assurance procedures ensure clean, sharp, legible labels to
both ease delivery and impress the recipient.
BARCODING
Described by the Postmaster General
as "the key to delivering the future," barcoding technology allows mail
to be sorted and routed automatically. Automation provides greater
cost-efficiency and allows for quicker delivery. USPS ensourages use of
barcoding with postage savings for barcoded mailings.
Labels are affixed to either an
envelope or self-mailer. They are then sorted, tagged, and sacked or
trayed according to postal regulations. With mail delivered to the
Postal Service on time, this phase of your project is completed as
scheduled.
FIRST CLASS MAILING
While most bulk mail is Third
Class, the USPS also offers postage discounts for First Class mail. By
using bulk mail processing services such as USPS Coding, postal
presort, and barcoding, you can reduce your First Class postage costs
by over 20%. Mail is delivered faster and more accurately.
DIRECT IMPRESSION
Direct impression addressing
increases response rates. Just a 1% increase in response rate can mean
a 33% increase in sales. This is an opportunity to lead the way with
your mailing. Energy, efficiency, image, every aspect of business
eventually translates into dollars and cents. Self-mailers as well as envelopes can have up to 7
lines of address plus postal barcode.
Automatic fail-safe barcode
determination and printing allows you to experience even lower cost for
mailings. Automation saves money. With the barcode capabilities, as
well as the "look" of direct impression, your mail piece will go
further to portray a high image for your company. Plus, it gives you
faster delivery and faster return.
